It was during an interview with WECT-TV in Wilmington in North Carolina that the president is said to have made the call, writes The Guardian.
– That both send a vote and appear at the polling stations. If the system works as claimed, then they won’t be able to send one to vote at polling stations, the president told WECT-TV on Wednesday.
– Encourages breaking the law
Giving more than one vote to a ballot is illegal in the United States. The president’s call prompts Attorney General Josh Stein to respond.
– The president encourages, rather creepy, people to break the law. He does this only to create chaos in the elections, Stein writes in a twitter message.
He cautions against trying to vote twice.
– Make sure you cast a vote, but do not vote twice, writes Stein.
– Lack of security
Secretary of State William Barr believes, however, that Trump would express a desire for greater security around the election and the electoral method.
“He tried to point out that there is a lack of security around this electoral system,” Barr told The Guardian.
According to Barr, ballots sent by email will be more prone to falsification. The ability to send votes by email is not a new phenomenon in the United States.
According to The Guardian, just under one in four votes cast during the 2016 elections were cast using this method. Due to the corona pandemic, record numbers of email votes are expected during this year’s elections.
Trump has previously accused Democrats of stealing votes by promoting the use of email as a voting method. Democrats, for their part, say Trump and Republicans are trying to make email voting difficult to help their own cause.
