Both the shares of the hydrogen company Nel and the biometrics company Next were paralyzed on Wednesday afternoon.

However, he never intended to stop Nel’s action. A pure foul meant that Nel was arrested, according to communications director Geir Harald Aase at the Oslo Stock Exchange.

– There was a breakout in both, but it was in Next that a breakout would be introduced. By mistake, a stock market breakout was introduced in Nel, he tells E24.

– Just typing error

Aase explains the incident, which in a message was called a “technical incident.”

– It was simply a typing error, because it is a manual process when we introduce a breakout. The action was lost, he says.

Aase says he can’t remember anything similar ever happening before. The error occurred in the market monitoring department.

– It’s human error and a good reminder to stick your tongue in your mouth when introducing a break in the bag.

Both actions were paused a little before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday,

Trading in Next’s stock was halted because the Oslo Stock Exchange wanted to examine price movements, after the stock had risen 39.3 percent.

Trading in Nel’s share resumed at 3:35 p.m.

Two tools

If trade irregularities occur, Exchange has mainly two tools that can be used. One is to pause an action or a value, which is done manually.

The second is an automatic trading stop that is triggered by the trading system itself. It pauses trading for a period of up to four minutes and is turned on when “large price movements in a security” occur.
