– The farm owner wants the image to be removed.

In 2016, Harald Halvorsen (46) from Førde took a photo of the Fossen mountain farm in Erdalsdalen. He posted the photo to Instagram and a couple of local Facebook groups that he is a member of.

– I like to take photos, especially of old things with history. I saw this mountain farm during a trip up the mountain. I was lying there quietly, in the dark, and there were no people there, so I thought it was perfectly fine for me to take some photos, Halvorsen tells Dagbladet.

– contacted

But the owner of the farm did not agree with that, says the 46-year-old man, who first told about the discussion surrounding the publication of the photo to the newspaper Firda.

– A year after publishing the photo, the owner of the farm called me. He kindly asked me to remove the image, Halvorsen tells Dagbladet.

– I asked him what was the reason for this, and then the owner said that the image made them annoy the people of the farm, continues the amateur photographer.

Took it away

He says he cannot understand or agree with the statement that his image may have led more people to choose to hike the hiking trail that runs the length of the farm, and also points out that he is not the only one who has photographed the old mountain farm or the area there.

– I still deleted the photo from Facebook, says Halvorsen.

The photo she had posted on Instagram left her out of her account.

Last week, the owners called him again, Halvorsen says.

– This time it was my wife who called and asked if she could delete the image. Then I went online and asked if they had the right to demand it, and Firda answered my questions and got in touch, says Halvorsen.

– No right of decision

He says he will not delete the photo, but will leave it on Instagram.

– I don’t think they have the right to decide on my photo, he says.

According to NRK, which has also covered the case, this case is even more relevant because Selja Forlag, who publishes the “Opptur” tourist guide series, has complained to the same family’s conciliation board. In one of the books, the trip to Fossen is described, and the farm itself is described as “an impressive mountain farm.” Images of the exterior of the farm are printed in the book.

Dagbladet has been in contact with the family that owns the farm today. They do not want to comment on it.
