This is indicated by Customs in an email to E24.

When Customs Service officials suspect that infection control and protective equipment is not properly documented, the goods are stopped and the Norwegian Medicines Agency, the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority or the Civil Protection Directorate and Emergency Planning (DSB) carry out greater control.

– If the goods comply with the regulations and requirements, they are allowed to enter the country, otherwise they are seized and destroyed, says press officer Henrik Egeberg at Customs at E24.

After the bandages were released, about 9.2 million remain detained at the border.

– You must familiarize yourself with the regulations.

DSB assists Customs in reviewing sanitary napkins and respiratory protection. This spring and summer, DSB has received 40 boxes from various importers.

The Directorate says they do not have the opportunity to provide information about the importer or details in the cases they receive from the Customs Service due to the duty of confidentiality in the Customs Law.

– In general, we can say that many of these products are of the category called “without name” or brand in Chinese, says the director of the department Johan Marius Ly in DSB.

He adds that if you are going to import these types of products, you must carefully familiarize yourself with the regulations.

– Not everyone does, he concludes.

Vollvik arrested after a raid

On Tuesday morning, the founder of the series, Idar Vollvik, was arrested and charged with violating the Medical Equipment Law. The penalty for this, in particularly aggravating circumstances, is a prison sentence of two years.

Police believe he received non-medical face masks from abroad, and repackaged them in Norway before they were marked as surgical.

Prosecutor Sulland has previously stated that, in particularly aggravating circumstances, there is a two-year prison term.

Vollvik denies criminal guilt.

– Vollvik has been on a lengthy interrogation today that began at eight o’clock early today. He does not feel any criminal responsibility for what happened, says lawyer Einar Råde, who represents Vollvik before E24.
