The wreckage of the Northguider trawler has now been completely removed from Hinlopen in Svalbard. Almost two years have passed since the ship sank.
The Minister for Justice and Emergency Management, Monica Mæland (H), was conducting an inspection of the area in connection with the Northguider uprising.

The entire wreck has now been cut into smaller pieces which are transported to the mainland, claims the governor of Svalbard.
– We are very happy and relieved that the campaign has been successful. The cooperation between all the players has been very good, says Governor Kjerstin Askholt.
An attempt was made to remove the wreck last year, but the action was postponed until this year because the vessel was more damaged than expected. A traffic ban was introduced in Hinlopenstredet in mid-July in connection with the uprising.
The fishing boat ran aground and sank during shrimp trawling at Hinlopenstredet, in the Nordaust-Svalbard nature reserve, on December 28, 2018. The crew of 14 people were evacuated. There were no injuries.
In June, the shipping company was fined NOK 350,000 and the captain NOK 35,000.
