– Three children in this group go to three different schools. That is why we have implemented infection tracking and quarantine in these schools, says the medical director at Kristiansand Dagfinn Haarr.

The three schools are Kristiansand Kahedralskole Gimle (KKG), Tangen videregående skole and Songdalen ungdomsskole.

According to Haarr, the students who tested positive have had no symptoms.

It was Fædrelandsvennen who first wrote about the family connection.

In total, around 180 students and teachers from the three schools are now in quarantine.

Tested Monday and Tuesday

Cases of infection in the two upper secondary schools, Tangen and KKG, were revealed on Friday and Sunday. 100 students and teachers from these schools have been told to self-quarantine.

– Everyone is informed and followed by the municipality’s crown team, says county director of education in Agder Arly Hauge.

On Monday, 46 Tangen students and staff were to be tested. Tuesday is KKG’s turn.

– The municipality will contact the 57 on the list, says Hauge.

He says that the quarantine applies mainly to those who have had education in the same room as the infected, but points out that there are some exceptions.

– It may be if an infected person has been with a person a lot outside the classroom, he says.

– Difficult to keep distance

KKG Acting Principal Gunvor Birkeland says the school is now also receiving a new round of information on infection control.

– Teachers are encouraged to have an additional talk with students on how to curb the spread of the infection, he says.

The principal says that students are generally good at reaching out, but other things are more challenging.

– We see that it can be difficult to keep your distance. Therefore, we will now focus especially on it.

Was prepared

Chancellor Birkeland is happy they had a contingency plan for this and says it has been helpful

– It was a good experience to see that it worked, he says.

Hauge in the county township is of the same opinion.

– We had our own action cards for precisely this type of incident. Now we have been trained in two situations and we are ready to help in the infection also in other schools.

According to him, there are no suspicions of infection in other high schools in the county.

Last week, an infection was also found in a student from Grim ungdomsskole in Kristiansand.

Students and teachers who for this reason had to be quarantined have now tested negative. They were allowed to return to school on Monday.
