. Police were notified of the accident at 3.30 pm on Sunday afternoon. Reports were that a sailing ship had sunk in the area between Bru in Rennesøy and the Skiftesvik ship port in Randaberg.

– The messages we have received indicate that a person must have been on board the sailboat when it crashed. Great resources have been sent to the area to help. A message was also sent on the VHF connection to other ships in the area, says Operations Manager Toralv Skårland in the Southwest Police District.

At 4:00 p.m., the Main Rescue Center reports that a person has been rescued from the sea.

– The person in question was picked up on another pleasure boat. This must have happened in Harestadvika, says rescue leader Oddgeir Andersen at HRS.

According to the police, there was only one person on board the ship when the coal set sail.

A 61-year-old man has been picked up from the sea. Another ship picked him up and then transported him ashore. It is now undergoing a health check on the site, but all indications are that it is in good condition, says operations manager Skårland.
