Around midnight, the 34-year-old says he passed the cave party, leading to more people being hospitalized, twice.
– When I first walked in, there were maybe 15-20 people outside. When I went in the second time, it was around 30-40 outside, Matt Vestengen-Cox tells TV 2.
Around 00:30 on Sunday night, he says he informed the police about the illegal party.
– When I called, they only told me I was on the list, says the 34-year-old.
More than three hours later
Vestengen-Cox says she reported to the police because people seemed so drunk. He says he has been to raves himself and says they can get out of control.
TV 2 has not been able to get a response from the police.
For VG, Operations Chief Cathrine Sylju says that “they received a phone call about a big party and that the person in question was put on guard in Greenland.”
Police said Sunday night that a patrol encountered youths who appeared dizzy. Police reported they were at the scene at 03:46, more than three hours after neighbor Matt reported.
Police estimate that some 200 people have visited the party during the night. The police estimate that they are between 20 and 30 years old.
In and out
Vestengen-Cox says there was no doubt that there was a party in the cave.
– It was clear it was a party. There were a lot of people, alcohol, and you could see the light from the cave. People were coming and going, he says.
The times it happened, he says he saw two police cars with blue lights passing by.
– The cave is a bit hidden behind some trees. It is probably not very clear to see from the road in a car what was happening. I would assume that those who pass by only see a group of people on the sidewalk, without thinking of anything else, says the 34-year-old.
He says that it is normally a quiet area and he says that he did not hear anything when he was in the apartment, which is not very far.
Seven people were found unconscious inside the bunker and a total of 25 people were taken to the hospital. Everybody is out of danger.
I had to draw air
TV 2 is informed that the party was organized in connection with a birthday. One of the party participants tells TV 2 that there were between 100 and 200 people who attended the party.
When he got to the cave on Saturday night, he noticed that there were a lot of people and bad air.
– I had to go out several times, but I did not think it could be dangerous, says the man, who wishes to remain anonymous.
He has been to a cave party several times before, but says there have never been as many there as yesterday. Nor has he ever experienced the organizers using drives.
– Yesterday was like a real disco, says the man.
Out of control
The man TV 2 spoke to says that when he left the party at 02:00, no one had gotten sick yet. Outside there must have been a long line of people wanting to leave.
Some acquaintances have told him that the party escalated after this.
– There were many who were not invited. The organizers lost control and too many entered the cave, says the man.
Learn from their mistakes
Several of those who stayed at the party finally began to feel very bad.
– I heard that it was very dramatic and that several fainted. You think the worst when it happens, says the man.
One of his friends was taken to the hospital after the party, but was not seriously injured.
– It’s disgusting to think that someone could have died. It shows that we have to think better of it, but I don’t regret going to the party. You learn from your mistakes, says the man.
