– There has been a lot of noise, threats of warnings, the electoral commission has received strong criticism. What do you think of the process around this?
– There will be strong emotions and strong commitment in such research, and here it has gone a bit back and forth. But I think those who have led this meeting to this day have managed to make good decisions, clean up where it was not clear, and make good decisions, says Støre.

Satisfied with the new leader
He has followed the debate in Trøndelag from a distance and has been very confident that Trøndelag must take primary responsibility for this. He thinks they have done the same.
Støre is also pleased that Ingvild Kjerkol has been elected leader. He thinks she’s a very strong politician.
– You have been given a very clear task to clean up this party culture, focus on politics, win the elections in Trøndelag and help win the elections in Norway, says Jonas Gahr Støre.
He worries that now the focus should be on politics and that they should spend time on politics and not on internal nonsense.
– An unhealthy culture
When it comes to the reports of harassment and exploitation of girls in the Bergen Labor Party, Støre believes this is part of the bigger picture of what they have seen over the years.
– There has been an unhealthy culture socially, where especially young girls have been insecure and have been exposed to things that should not happen. It’s nothing new and it hurts to hear it again, he says.
Therefore, the Labor Party has made working on this a priority. According to Støre, they have tightened regulations, new procedures, and the women’s network holds regular seminars and rounds on this to influence the organizational culture.
– We will say that whistleblowers can step up with what they have to say and we will follow it appropriately. Whether in Trondheim or Bergen or wherever, it must apply, says Støre.
