Stenshagen will convert the garage into housing

In 2013, investor Egil Stenshagen bought a property on Admiral Børresen’s road in Bygdøy in Oslo, one of the most sought-after addresses on the peninsula.

Three years later, he paid NOK 76.5 million for neighboring land with a coastline in Bygdøy.

There, the former rally driver would only establish a private garage, but the only garage belonging to the property was built next to the house, and the neighboring site remains as it did in 2016, according to the billionaire.

At the time, Stenshagen also said that he had an interest in controlling the development of this property, as it can be built with some 3,000 square meters of property for sale.

Get rid of the garage

Now the Stenshagen couple have discovered that they do not need the garage that was built in the villa.

That’s the one who now wants to move from garage to home.

This is evident from an advance conference request sent by the Stenshagen architect to PBE.

According to Stenshagen, the garage is part of the villa that they do not know what to use.

“This is like asking about the color of the underpants, it is part of the house that we did not know what to wear, and there will be a minimal change in the interior,” he says.

According to Stenshagen, the conversion of the garage into a home has nothing to do with the current plot.

– It is so unspectacular that we are applying to make an almost unused part of the house that was originally going to be a garage to live in, Stenshagen writes in a text message.

Out of trouble

However, the history of property in Bygdøy has not only been dramatic.

In 2016, Stenshagen raised the ground and made the lawn on the site by the sea in Bygdøy.

It has led to a four year headache for the billionaire.

The site change was not approved by the Planning and Construction Agency, which has demanded that Stenshagen must return the land to its original form.

Right next to the site is an area that the Planning and Construction Agency refers to as “defined as a biologically valuable area.”

The 2017 periodic imposition and sanction decree establishes:

“The Planning and Construction Agency, therefore, requires that you remove the tablecloths, fillings and turf that have been arranged and any other measures, so that the area within a regulated construction boundary towards the sea becomes as was before the work on the terrain changes started “

The deadline has been postponed several times, the last one until May 1 of this year.

The municipality has adopted a mandatory plan of fines as follows:

  • NOK 35,000 expires on May 1, unless property has been returned
  • On July 1 a new fine of NOK 70,000 expires
  • New $ 100,000 fine expires September 1
  • A fine of NOK 150,000 must be paid on November 1
