Just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Oslo police reported they had several patrols at Oslo Central Station, following reports of a man running with an ax.
– There are witnesses who have contacted us, and after a short time one of our patrols saw our man. Then it went out, heading for the Oslo spectrum, Operations Manager Gjermund Stokkli in the Oslo Police District tells TV 2.
The operations manager says no injuries were found. There is nothing to suggest that someone is hurt or threatened.
– But you cannot run and fan an ax in the center, it creates fear, says Stokkli.
Police used extensive resources in the area to search for the man.
“This is a man, he should wear a shiny dark bubble jacket, have curly hair, be brown on the skin, and have an ax in his hand,” says Stokkli.
At 6.10 p.m., police said they were still looking for the man. Half an hour later, the police had narrowed the search down a bit, but they were still searching the area around the train station.
