A brand in Palace Square will not be available to the public, but the Palace remains silent about the royal family’s plans for National Day. The marking must be broadcast on television and is exempt from the provision rule of a maximum of 50 people.

For many, the May 17th celebration is almost synonymous with seeing the royal family standing on the castle’s balcony facing a sea of people with Norwegian holidays. This will not be the case this year, and a long tradition is broken with it.
The castle does not want to announce the plans of the royal family for National Day. VG believes this is to avoid large gatherings of people.
Communication Manager Guri Varpe doesn’t want to comment on the matter, but the Royal House website claims The Royal Court is an organizer and asks that no one apply in Palace Square on this day. The space will be closed to the public.
Bent Høie said at the government press conference on Wednesday that the event in Slottsplassen is exempt from the rule that events should not have more than 50 people gathered in one place. The other rules for public events also apply to this selection.
In a press release, The Castle claims that His Majesty King Gardes’ music corps and various choirs will play the national anthem at a national celebration on May 17. Everything will take place at Slottsplassen around 1pm, but whatever happens will not be open to the public. Everything will be broadcast live on TV, also on VGTV.
Last year, Princess Märtha Louise’s girlfriend, Durek Verrett, was among the guests during the National Day celebration at the Castle. This year the couple separates as a result of the crown.
