Police search Tom Hagen’s residence and cabin through a so-called third party search. Now Hagens’ defender Svein Holden is taking the police decision to court.

Police have responded today and are awaiting the court’s decision in a press release.

“We are conducting this search to find clues in places where Anne-Elisabeth Hagen has been offended,” prosecutor Haris Hrenovica said in the press release.

Police write they have received many questions about the case following the trial court’s decision last week.

Rejects the “tunnel vision”

The Court of Appeals found that there was no reasonable cause to suspect Tom Hagen of murder or complicity in the murder and therefore decided that he should be released.

“The main task of the police is to find Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, find out what criminal offenses have been committed against her and who has full or partial responsibility for these actions,” said Ida Melbo Øystese Police Chief, Ida Melbo Øystese , in the press release.

In recent days, our ability to investigate extensively has been questioned and it has been claimed that we have “tunnel vision,” police say.

– From the beginning we have investigated the case extensively and followed the traces that we have found. It has been, and is, a demanding investigation, especially since we believe that someone has deliberately entered to deceive the police. The police have a special responsibility to ensure an objective investigation. Although we have charges, the investigation is as much about corroborating as it is about confirming, and about providing evidence of both guilt and innocence. I am sure the investigation is being carried out in a good and objective manner, says the police chief.

Ask the family to contribute

In recent days, the police have come under fire from both aid lawyer Ståle Kihle and advocate Svein Holden. The latter replied that, 18 months after the disappearance, the police believe that the Hagen couple’s home is the scene of a murder. He believes that the police do not have “evidentiary coverage” for this, and claims that she is equally likely to have been killed after she was kidnapped from the home.

As VG has previously written, the three adult children of the married couple Hagen did not want to be questioned after the father was arrested.

– The police understand that the case is very demanding for the immediate family and that some investigative steps may be perceived as burdensome. At the same time, we have a strong desire that they continue to shed light on the matter, he continues.

At the same time that the police sent out a press release, searches are underway at Sloraveien 4.

The case is being updated.
