– Alexander has always been an amazing father and an adoptive father, and he loved his children and always had time for them. Absolutely amazing. He always did something for others and stretched out a bit more, says a close relative of the family to VG.

The six-year-old father had a kidney transplant 15 years ago.

– He was a wonderful man, father and brother. He knew everyone and everyone knew him. The need will be great, says the relative.

VG has also spoken to Alexander’s sister. She wants to encourage everyone to follow the infection control rules of the Institute of Public Health.

“This is serious and he was a man in good health,” he tells VG, adding:

– It is absolutely horrible. Inhuman and hurtful.

Overwhelming response

After Alexander’s death, a family fundraising campaign was created on the Spleis website. At the time of writing, over NOK 600,000 has been collected in less than a day.

– I wanted to do something to help you in the difficult situation. There’s not much you can do other than be there for them, says the family friend behind the welcome page Linda Helen Lundekvam.

It was the Os & Fusaposten newspaper that mentioned the collection first.

She says it has been a difficult time for the entire family, but the overwhelming response to the welcoming campaign has heated up a lot.

– Not even 24 hours have passed. Friends, acquaintances and strangers have contributed. Lots of nice people, she says.

Mayor: – Tap to see that people care

The mayor of Bjørnafjorden Municipality, Trine Lindborg, tells VG that her thoughts are directed at family and relatives.

– It was a sad day on Saturday when the message came through the municipal emergency administration that he had passed away. You immediately think of those who are left behind and who are suffering and are difficult, so it is natural that it is the family and close relatives that you think of in such a situation, says the mayor, adding:

– I am concerned that at the same time we give the family peace and tranquility, but the municipality is aware that they will get the help and support they want.

Lindborg says she is familiar with the ongoing fundraising campaign.

– It is moving for me to see that people take care of each other and want to contribute and show their compassion. I think it is a fortress for the municipality that people care about each other like that, Lindborg says.
