After experiencing high temperatures and bright blue skies, eastern Norway woke up to different weather on Sunday. Temperatures had not only decreased significantly, but had also snowed up to 200-300 meters. Places like Nannestad, Jessheim, and Tryvann were dotted with fresh snow.

– We got more wind from the north and there was some rain in the form of snow, also in the lowlands in some places, he tells NTB.

Observing meteorologist Espen Biseth Granan at the Meteorological Institute, he says that we are in another type of climate now in eastern Norway, but that there will still be good temperatures during the week.

Cold in the north

Because it will be a short-term winter test for eastern Norway, where there are quite good temperatures on the way.

– The climate for the country will be very varied depending on where you live, but in Oslo and its surroundings it will be quite dry and in decent conditions next week. Although one should be prepared for some showers, there will probably be good periods of sunshine in the next few days, which start fresh, but where the temperature will rise throughout the day.

It cannot promise the Norwegians better times in terms of the weather.

– There is an unstable climate in the north, and in Tromsø there is precipitation that can come as snow and sleet. It also depends on the rain in Tromsø next weekend, but the image here may change. But it may not be a hot May 17 for Tromsø, he says.

Stable in Oslo

Biseth Granan believes that eastern Norway will have the best weather on May 17.

– We can expect it to be up to 14-15 degrees in Oslo on May 17, and there are great opportunities for it to be weather resistant.

– There will probably be no repetition of last year, when we measure 22 degrees. May is May, when the weather can vary greatly. A few years ago, I actually hailed when I was standing in Castle Square. That is exactly what I think will not happen in Oslo this year.
