On Tuesday, the government will draw up a revised state budget, which will contain a trillion unknown to the package travel industry, which will ensure continued operations and that Norwegians will be reimbursed billions for reserved charter trips.

While Norway is slowly but surely opening again, there are some industries where there is still a boom.
Charter companies that live sending Norwegians on vacation this week receive a long-awaited crisis package from the government. It has taken time to put it into practice, but the industry hopes that this means that politicians have spent time understanding what is needed.
– I choose to take it as a good sign that you’ve gotten yourself into the situation correctly, Wing Chief Christian Fredrik Grønli tells E24
– The most important thing is that you don’t fall into a trap with solutions that have no real effect, says Grønli.
Children and Family Minister Kjell Ingolf Ropstad has not said what or how much package travel companies get, only that it is a billion dollars.

I don’t want norwegian package
Virke claims that there are tour packages for a maximum of NOK 5 billion that must be returned to consumers.
Astrid Bergmål, director of Virke Reise, says “the great fear is that I will only get one loan,” and she hopes most of the package will be a grant.
Wing, who is considered the biggest player in the industry, won’t say how many crowns the company needs.
“In terms of quantity, I am not going to go into that, because it is very different from the needs of different companies, but we are talking about a few billion for the industry,” says Grønli, CEO of Ving.
Berg Hansen’s competitors, who are the biggest in business travel, are also very excited about the news coming Tuesday morning.
“We depend on something powerful,” says Berg Hansen CEO Per Arne Villadsen.
He also says the industry needs more than loans, and “needs to get some kind of direct support.”
Vings Grønli believes it can be a combination of loans and direct compensation, which Virke supports by saying that the loan should be a solid loan that can be paid, for example by adding a form of fare to future trips.
This means that the same crisis package Norwegian received earlier this year is out of date. Airlines in Norway received a total of NOK 6 billion in loan guarantees from the state on March 19.

Norway Vacation Packages
How fast Norwegians can travel abroad again is still very uncertain, but there will be a Norwegian vacation for many this summer.
Neither Berg Hansen nor Ving have big plans to offer Norwegians nationwide charter trips, but the latter is somewhat reserved.
– So there are no opportunities to offer vacation packages in Norway?
– We have some aces up our sleeve that we work with, but you shouldn’t expect big airlifts from north to south or the like. That said, we are open to many things, says Grønli.

You will also need cash assistance
In addition to a possible crisis package, cash grants will also be applied to cover the inevitable costs, says the Ving boss.
Both Ving and Berg Hansen have laid off 90 percent of their hundreds of employees, thereby dramatically reducing labor costs, but they hope to be able to bring more people to work in the coming months.
Virkes Bergmål says that politicians have once stood in the pulpit and said tourism is the worst affected industry.
– So now it’s about political will, says Bergmål.
