Due to the summer weather in late April, there were sudden stops and cold weather throughout the country in May.
This spring’s cold “peaked” on Sunday morning, when snow fell entirely in the lowlands in various parts of eastern Norway.
– An area of rain passed over southern Norway and fell over eastern Norway. In the later part, winds and winds from the north entered, so most of the country had cold weather. This resulted in a low snow cap. But that’s about to happen, says service meteorologist Espen Biseth Granan at the Meteorological Institute.
He thinks most of the snow will melt during the day.
Yellow Hazard Warning
Northern Norway received a white blanket on Friday, and parts of eastern and southern Norway did the same today.
The Meteorological Institute had issued a yellow hazard warning in advance, reporting that it could reach 2 to 6 cm to the lowlands.
The hazard warning applies to eastern Norway and Telemark. The yellow warning means “moderate danger” and, among other things, can mean difficult driving conditions:
-
There may be damage locally
-
Power outages can occur
-
Traffic delays are likely to occur
-
The wind can make it dangerous to be in the mountains
Already white in the north
Northern Norway was already filling up with snow on Friday. Many people shared their photos with NRK, which featured snow on garden furniture and freshly sprouted saffron.
Although in May it is opaque with snow, it is not uncommon, but it is the inhabitants of the north who are most used to snowfall in the spring months.
How about May 17?
Should you find wool or sunglasses as an accessory for this year’s costume?
The question is how long will the cold north wind last.
– The cold weather is maintained both on Monday and Tuesday. The wind will come from the west and the north, and there will be rains from the northwest and the north. Eastern Norway will be more likely to stay, says the meteorologist.
Precipitation will remain the longest for northwestern Norway, Trøndelag and Nordland. Towards Friday and Saturday, a new low pressure may occur in northern Norway.
For eastern Norway there will be better weather, so there may be a chance of rain and periods of sunshine next week.
– Overall, it is eastern Norway that will receive the best weather next week. The temperature will rise a bit towards next weekend, but it won’t be too hot, I am leaning to 10-12 degrees in Oslo. May 17, it may be 14-15 degrees in Oslo, says Biseth Granan.
