Elon Musk threatens to kick Tesla out of California

“Honestly, this is the last straw,” Musk tweeted Saturday, saying he wants to move Tesla’s headquarters to Texas or Nevada with immediate effect.

He made it clear that the decision to move the actual plant in Fremont to south San Francisco depends on how the company is treated in the future.

In his dispute, he also said he sued Alameda County because he was not allowed to restart the factory. He claims that his factory is socially critical because of the many employees.

Musk has been complaining for weeks about quarantine regulations. He calls them fascists and accuses the authorities of violating the freedom of the inhabitants.

Authorities in the San Francisco area forced Tesla to close the plant on March 23 to curb the spread of the coronavirus and extend its order until the end of May.

Health authorities say the closure was important in reducing the number of people infected.

Despite the threats, it would be very costly for Musk to move Fremont production to Texas or Nevada. Moving all of the production equipment would take twelve to 18 months.

Musk is already planning to open another factory in the United States. Previously, it only had one factory in Shanghai, except for the Fremont plant, where most Tesla cars are manufactured.
