It shows a round of Aftenposten calls made on Friday to various county leaders on the left.

“Guri Melby has greatly strengthened her position, both by becoming Minister of Knowledge and by the way she has acted,” says Haakon Riekeles, first deputy chief of Oslo Left.

– You have done a good job in a demanding situation and have strengthened yourself as a candidate for management. We have not discussed what this implies, what position may be relevant to it. But she has grown stronger, no doubt, she continues.

“We have proposed Iselin as a leader,” says Kjartan County Leader Alexander Lunde on Rogaland Left, and points to Iselin Nybø, who is from this county.

She was also nominated by her own county of origin in the first round, but, in the county’s opinion, she has greatly strengthened her candidacy after becoming Minister of Industry.

– Nybø has impressed

– She impressed many and showed off her leadership skills, she says. She also notes that she has chaired the Main Program Committee on the left in a very good way.

– She is a unifying leader who is greatly appreciated throughout the organization, she says. What other names Rogaland Venstre has registered for management, Lunde will not be released.

This week, the Aftenposten reported that the Minister of Culture Abid Rajas (V) Secretary of State is finishing “for reasons of his own integrity.” Sources close to the liberal leadership inform Aftenposten that there has been a conflict between Raja and Bråten.

Yesterday’s disaster on Facebook was resolved in a “political lack of culture.” From left sources it reads like a formidable attack on Raja.

But no one wants to bring Bråten’s attack to the leadership discussion or say it has weakened Abid’s candidacy.

– All government ministers are potential candidates for a leadership trio, and there may be others as well. That is the signal the county government has given, Ingjerd Thon Hagaseth, the first political deputy on Inland Left, tells Aftenposten.

Here are the candidates who can become a new leader on the left

– Nybø and Melby strengthened

– Iselin Nybø and Guri Melby have strengthened, but no one has weakened. That is the message from the county leader Tove Eindsen on the Trøndelag Left. She emphasizes that this is her personal opinion, and that the board has not yet discussed what new input she will bring to the nominating committee.

She notes that Melby became a government minister just as schools closed and the crisis happened entirely. At the same time, Nybø took over as Venstre’s chief representative in government.

– They had so little time to prepare, but they have delivered wonderfully, she says. He also emphasizes that Sveinung Rotevatn has not done a bad job despite being less visible, but points out that this is due to the fact that there is less awareness of climate and environmental issues when the crown pandemic catches all the attention.

Troms and Finnmark Venstre have yet to gain insights from their own organization. County Governor Irene Vanja Dahl would say that the four ministers do a very good job in a demanding situation.

The Westland Left board will meet in late May. The Åsta Årøen County Governor will not comment on the matter until then. The same signal comes from Viken Left.

Sveinung Rotevatn is from Westland, while Abid Raja is chosen for the Storting in Akershus, which is now part of Viken. The Nordland Left deputy leader also doesn’t say anything public now.

– I think there are several good candidates. The nominating committee has had someone on the block for a while, and there may be something else, says Aina Dahl at Vestfold and Telemark Venstre.

Date of national meeting not established

Trine Skei Grande announced his departure as a leftist leader on March 11, a day before the government closed Norway due to the crown crisis.

The week before, the nominating committee proposed that Grande be reelected as leader in the national assembly in April, and Raja and Rotevatn also nominated as vice presidents.

On March 12, the National Liberal Assembly was indefinitely postponed.

The Left Election Committee has announced that it will not be able to present a recommendation for new leadership on the Left before summer. Therefore, Grande will remain seated for the time being.

The left will elect a new leader and two deputy leaders at its next national meeting.
