On Thursday night, a man in his 30s was arrested, charged with murder or complicity in the murder of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen.
Police believe that murder victim Tom Hagen, who was released from custody today, has had aides.
Police said today that they know the 30-year-old has cryptocurrency experience and that the Court of Appeal’s decision to release Hagen was critical in arresting him and justifying him with evidence of loss.

Tom Hagen was released from Oslo prison this afternoon with his lawyer Svein Holden. The 30-year-old man has been in custody since Thursday night, but police have not scheduled a meeting in jail.

The man has been involved in cryptocurrency on the Internet, but the police have said nothing about how they associate him with the Hagen case. In the alleged kidnapping of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, ransom claims have been promoted in the Monero crypto currency.

He believes that the police cannot be particularly surprised that Hagen has been released since the Eidsivating Court of Appeals means that Hagen had to be released. Police appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court, which unanimously rejected the appeal.

The district court in the Eastern Police District has a so-called weekend tour, which means that a district court in the district generally holds court meetings that must take place over a weekend. This week, the Halden District Court is in rotation, but the police should have received approval to hold a possible detention meeting with the 30-year-old man in the Lower Roman District District Court.
– There is no different reason
The man in his 30s describes the charge as absurd and rejects the criminal charges.

Friend trembled
The accused has not been previously convicted. A young friend of the man says he is shocked.
– It is shocking if it had anything to do with this case. I am appalled, says Dagbladet’s young friend.
– He seems to be extremely concerned about justice, and he was a person that many in our youth community admired, he says.
“Easier to hijack”
The defendant has shown great interest in cryptocurrency on the Internet. Among other things, he has run his own IT company.
Among other things, he raised the cryptocurrency that cannot be tracked in the context of criminal acts, including kidnapping, in a forum post. According to VG, who first mentioned the arrest, the post should have been published in the period after Anne-Elisabeth Hagen’s disappearance on October 31, 2018.
Dagbladet has seen a comment the man wrote shortly after Hagen’s disappearance was known in early 2019 in which he describes that it has become “easier to kidnap people” due to the untraceable cryptocurrency.

Dagbladet also knows that the man has previously been affiliated with a shooting club.
The man has been living in various places in eastern Norway, but was originally associated with Romerike. Police took action last night against a house in Romerike a half-hour drive from Tom and Anne-Elisabeth Hagen’s residence in Sloraveien in Lørenskog.
The Eastern Police District informs Dagbladet that they will not comment further on Thursday’s arrest.
Tom Hagen (70) is still charged with murder, even though he has been released. Police say they relate to the Court of Appeal’s decision that the motives for Tom Hagen’s imprisonment are not present now.
