On Thursday Torgeir Bjarmann was introduced as Inge André Olsen’s replacement in Stabæk, in front of a small robot press.
The press was not physically present when the 51-year-old was introduced during a press conference, but VG and Eurosport were represented in Nadderud through robotic technology and asked the new head of sports questions.
“It’s a little bit more charming when people are really present, but things are going well,” Bjarmann said with a laugh.
– The sound works well, but lacks some personal contact.
“Saltos” by Inge André Olsen: – Shoot me
Chief Executive Jon Tunold confirms that Bjarmann was chosen after being one of the two finalists for the position.
“We are very pleased to have agreed with him on an agreement,” says Tunold at the press conference.
On April 1, Inge André Olsen resigned as sports manager for the Bærum club after having had the job since 2010.
– Getting it causes me a lot. I will try to do an even better job, if possible, says Bjarmann about the job.
– I am sure I will do a good job for Stabæk and be a good ambassador for the club.
Bjarmann was Sports Director at Lillestrøm until 2017 and has worked as an agent for the past few years. He has also been a sports manager at Lyn.
Dismissed employees: – Prepared for lower wages.
He hopes to embark on a new job as a sports manager when he takes office on May 1.
– It is difficult to say what will happen in the future in terms of the start of the season, transition window and buying and selling of players, but with the team we now have to be able to offer good results, says Bjarmann.
At Stabæk all employees are fired, while players are sent on vacation until May 4.
That situation has been an issue in negotiations between the club and the new sports coach.
– There has been a good dialogue about that. Torgeir is prepared so that his salary may be somewhat lower for a period of time and that there can be talk of layoffs due to the situation we find ourselves in, says CEO Tunold.
– We really appreciate that you have been solution oriented on this.
