Not enough mouthwash
Nakstad assumes that, whatever the import situation, there will not be enough mouthwash for general use in Norway.
– There will probably not be enough surgical dressings available for general use in Norway regardless of the import situation. The advice on the use of mouthwash is mainly based on the prevention of infections, and it is the Institute of Public Health that decides on this.
“FHI does not recommend the use of mouthwash to the population, except for patients with suspected or proven covid-19 during transportation to or from the health service,” writes the Institute of Public Health on its website.

The clarification comes after Aftenposten reported Wednesday night that the European Infection Protection Agency (ECDC) “now recommends that Norwegians also use mouthwash.”
In the current report, the ECDC concludes that “the use of mouthwash in the community can be considered, especially when looking for tight and crowded spaces, such as supermarkets, shopping centers or the use of public transport.”
On Thursday morning, VG Nakstad cited that “mouthwash can certainly have something for itself.” Nakstad then targeted areas where people are close to each other, especially in cities and areas with high infection.
– Is Oslo considered such a city?
– Examples of cities and areas with high infection are New York City, London and other epicenter centers of infection, says Nakstad, adding:
– In Norway, there are now very few who test positive for coronavirus and much indicates that transmission is mainly between people living together.
