In an address to the people Monday, United States President Joe Biden promises that 90 percent of all adults in the country will have been offered a vaccine by April 19. At the same time, he warns that it is now “deadly serious.”
This means that 90 percent of those over the age of 18 will have been offered a corona vaccine within three weeks. Biden will make the promise at a news conference Monday night.
Wait for everyone who gets an offer to take their fix.
– If you have not yet taken your dose, take it this week. Please, this is not politics. We must take this virus seriously, says Biden to those who have already been offered the vaccine.
Deadly seriousness
Additionally, Biden notes that 75 percent of Americans 65 and older have been vaccinated.
– There are many grandparents who can now safely hug their grandchildren, he says. At the same time, the American president is aware that the situation in the country remains serious.
– This is very serious, we can see that the virus situation is getting worse and not better, says Biden. Describe the situation as a career that has to do with life or death.
– Some of the indefensible behavior that we have seen on television recently, means that there will be more cases in the future, he continues.
Despite high infection rates, the so-called “spring break” festival is taking place in various parts of the country. In Florida, nearly 5,000 people are infected each day. Nevertheless young people flock to parties in Miami Beach, among other places.
These parties are believed to be something of what Joe Biden describes as ruthless behavior that he has seen on television.
Biden further says that they expect many new cases in the coming weeks and that they are waiting for vaccines.
– It’s time to do even more, it’s time, he tells the Americans.
In the past 14 days, 13,811 Americans have lost their lives to the virus, the VG overview shows.
Concerned about health
On the very night of Biden’s speech to the people, America’s infection control director Rochelle Walensky issued her own warning. He sat down with the feeling of “impending catastrophe.”
– We have a lot to look forward to and a lot of potential. We have great reason for hope, but right now I am afraid, emphasized the CDC director.
The country has recovered from a third wave of infection, but Walensky was concerned that the seven-day average in the country was increasing for both infection cases and deaths.
