It spreads quickly within families
– In connection with one death, there have been several memorial services and condolence visits to private homes in period 1-3. November. Some were diagnosed with an infection this week. Now there is infection in several joints. We see the virus spreading rapidly within families, says chief physician Guro Steine Letting in Fredrikstad.
He claims that the death was not related to the crown.
Those who are infected are now isolated at home and followed up by their GP. Letting says that those infected are mainly younger people who don’t like getting sick as much.

Infects before symptoms appear
– The virus is very contagious before symptoms appear, so this is an element of bad luck. Together, many people have met, and sadly, some have been contagious. We’ve seen lately that there are a lot of infections before people get sick, says Letting.
– Have people violated infection control rules and gathered too many at once?
– We have no reason to believe that there have been special violations of infection control rules, but it has probably been kept very little, he says.
Letting says the virus spreads rapidly within families. She says Fredrikstad recently had an outbreak at an elementary and middle school. More than 50 were infected.
– The virus branches out quickly. We have also had other groups of infections in Fredrikstad. It reminds us that the virus can appear everywhere, he says.
– Have you been good enough to provide good information to the immigrant community?
– We work closely with the Somali community in the city. Several employees of the corona center have Somali backgrounds. Both resource people and organizations have helped us spread information, he says.
In the future, it will be important for people in Fredrikstad to get tested if they have symptoms.
The municipal chief hopes that they now have control over the outbreak.
