– We know that most of the infection takes place at home, in the private sector, when we visit each other, says Elizabeth Kimbell, chief physician of a nursing home in Trondheim.

20 new infected people were registered on Friday, 37 on Saturday and 25 on Sunday, the municipality of Trondheim reported Monday morning.

Thus, Saturday is the day with the highest number of infected registered in the city in one day during the entire corona pandemic. Kimbell is excited to learn if the increase is random or the beginning of an even greater increase.

– We are careful to have a less clear and less predictable situation than we are used to, says Kimbell.

31 people with unknown source of infection

A total of 3603 tests were conducted in Trondheim during these three days.

There is a wide age range among those infected. From 20 years to 90. One of those infected has a moderate course of the disease. The rest have mild processes.

Of the 82 infected, 31 people have an unknown source of infection.

Several of those infected are residents of the Charlottenlund Health and Wellness Center.

Now Kimbell highlights how important it is that everyone be very careful at Christmas, so that the infection does not get worse in the city:

– Everyone should follow the infection control recommendations that we have been given very well. Also at Christmas parties. What we say is good distance, good hand hygiene and limits the participants in the Christmas party to the recommendations given, he says.

Trackers fight to catch people

There has been a queue of up to five days to take a crown sample. The Municipality of Trondheim has reinforced the two sampling stations with more samplers.

Furthermore, the number of infectious spores has increased.

– The working pressure is extremely high. There is a lot of work, both day and night. And almost at night, says infection tracker Therese Østlie.

– The biggest challenge is working fast enough, continue.

The physical therapist has been working as an infection tracker since August. Another big challenge is getting close and infected contacts.

– If people don’t respond on the first try, we don’t have time to sit and call and call and call. So we are happy to send an SMS and we hope you can reach the corona phone so that we can reach everyone in the end, says Østlie.

The crown situation is confusing in several places in Trøndelag, not just in Trondheim.

Completely different from two weeks ago

Trøndelag moves up the Norwegian infection scale.

The infection situation has changed dramatically in just over two weeks. Trøndelag was the only green area on the map of Europe.

– The development in Trøndelag recently, only shows how quickly the infection can spread, says the county doctor in Trøndelag, Jan Vaage.

Now there is an increasing infection in several municipalities in Trøndelag. Rennebu, Stjørdal, Malvik and Hitra have had several new cases in recent days.

The Hitra municipality has introduced a ban on bandages in public places, as well as closing schools, extracurricular clubs and kindergartens.

Christmas show and foreign atmosphere

The Covid-19 boom in Trondheim two weeks ago began with two outbreaks:

One related to the production of a Christmas show in Olavshallen.

One related to the Eritrean environment in the city.

These outbreaks led to intensive monitoring of the infection.

Only Innlandet, Telemark and Vestfold and Oslo and Viken counties have more infection than Trøndelag now.

That said, there is a low infection pressure in Norway compared to other European countries.
