LINKED: The activists are behaving very well, according to the Police.
Approximately 30 people have been arrested and several have been expelled after Extinction Rebellion performed in front of Slottsparken.
Around 50 people chained themselves to heavy iron pipes at the Frederiks gate Monday morning. The street runs between Slottsparken and the National Theater in Oslo.
– 27 have now been arrested, in addition to a good number of expelled. Some of those who have now been arrested were first expelled and then refused to leave the scene, says operations manager Vidar Pedersen at 0840.

Pedersen says they have had no unwanted incidents or need for force other than having to physically remove the activists.
– We are demonstrating because we have a big elephant in the room here in Norway, and that is our oil policy. We know that it is not sustainable in the long term, it violates the Paris Agreement and we have to do something about it.
This is what Cinta Hondsmerk (19) says, who is one of the activists who showed up early at Frederiks Gate on Monday morning.
– We can’t go back to normal. We need to restart. We must rethink oil policy in Norway and we must recognize that the climate crisis will be worse than the corona pandemic in the long run, he tells VG.
Around 08:30, the campaign is more or less dissolved.
The current status is that we have arrested about 30 people in an action that we describe as a “sit down” action. The road has been blocked at the morning rush hour and we are in the process of opening the road, says the chief of police duties at the scene, Martin Strande.
Has there been calm between the protesters and the police?
– Yes, absolutely, concludes the leader of the task.
Ready for more actions
On Facebook, Extinction Rebellion writes that they are organizing their biggest action in Norway and that they plan to act for up to one day.
– We are prepared for new actions in the city of Oslo, says Operations Manager Pedersen.
Hondsmerk at Extinction Rebellion says they have planned an event at Eidsvolls plass in front of the Storting, which will run until 19 o’clock.
– We also hope to do some smaller actions during the day.
