Last Tuesday, a new infection record was set in Norway with 1,150 recorded cases of infection in one day. This was followed by two more days with more than a thousand cases of infection, 1064 on Wednesday and 1034 on Thursday, respectively.

On Friday, the number fell below a thousand in 989, while lower infection rates are typically reported on holidays and weekends: 820 and 577 this weekend.

– There are usually lower figures on weekends, you have to take that into account. Therefore, it is advisable to see one week a week on average, Deputy Health Director Espen Rostrup Nakstad told VG on Monday.

1,096 new cases of the coronavirus were registered in Norway on Monday. There are 167 more cases than the average of the previous seven days, which is 929.

Last Monday 866 new cases of contagion were registered.

Last week, there were 6,500 cases of infection in Norway and the week before 5505. It is the two weeks during the pandemic with the most cases of infection recorded.

– There are signs that it may begin to flatten in municipalities where strong measures have been implemented in a good week. We are very happy about that, because that is the purpose of the measures in Viken and in many other places, Nakstad continued.

According to the GV calculation, the trend of registered infection is increasing, and the same occurs in 51 municipalities. In Norway, a total of 88,035 cases of infection have been confirmed since the start of the pandemic.

– There are slightly different images across the country, so the national average is increasing, but not as strong as before, thankfully, Nakstad says, explaining that while the trend is flattening out in some places, it is increasing in others.

A total of 267 people have been admitted to Norwegian hospitals with covid-19. This is the highest number since the peak in April of last year. 68 people are in the intensive care unit, while 46 are on the ventilator.

Last week, just over 170,000 tests were carried out in Norway, of which 2.6% were positive. Last week, more than 193,000 were tested and 2.4 percent of the tests came back positive.
