North Carolina woman attacked by rabid fox in her bed :: WRAL.com

– A rabid fox attacked a North Carolina woman while she was in her bed on Sunday night.

Julie Loflin, from Greensboro, was in her bed when she saw the fox enter the doggy door in her yard.

She came face to face with the fox when he jumped onto her bed with her.

“I was praying that I could live,” said Loflin.

He attacked her foot and didn’t let go until he took it off, holding her neck. He kept it that way for more than 12 minutes before the police and paramedics arrived.

“I don’t know what else you could do. Maybe throw a pillow or blanket at him, or something like that, ”he told WGHP.

Authorities said they determined the fox had rabies. Loflin had to receive several vaccines, including a rabies vaccine.

Area residents told WGHP that they had seen more foxes approach the properties.

This is the eighth case of rabies in the county this year, authorities said.
