The sound mixer from the award-winning movie “Nomadland” has died after taking his own life … and his father believes the coronavirus epidemic may have played a part.
Michael Wolf Schneider Had not heard for several days, while her father, a psychiatrist David Schneider, Went to check on them at their Queens apartment. David found his son’s body.
Dr. Schneider says his son struggled with severe depression for many years.
Michael, 35, who went by his middle name, Wolf, achieved a lot professionally. In addition to Golden-Globe winner “Nomadland”, she worked on the Emmy-nominated show, “Good Woman”. She also starred in the 2017 sci-fi flick, “Imitation Girl” and the 2018 movie “The Amaranth”.
Francis McDormand“The wolf recorded our heartbeat. Our every breath. For me it’s ‘Nomadland’,” said the “Nomadland” star.
Wolf worked as a sound mixer with Boom operator and filmmaker Chloe Zhao For “The Rider” and Zhao said, “I always looked at the Wolf after each take. I didn’t wear headphones on the set so I trusted my ears on the Wolf.” Tears welled up in his eyes, or sometimes he sensibly signaled, ‘One more.’
Wolf’s father said he did not know how deeply his son was struggling with depression, saying, “I am a psychiatrist who could not save his son because he would not share his grief.” For most people, This is a disease that has been seen and killed for years. I’m sure it was difficult for Michael to spend most of the year alone in his small, Queens apartment, responsible for dealing with the coronavirus. “He went on to say … “Despite this, we all believe he’s doing well, and for most of this past year I think he was.”
Wolf was 35. RIP
