The developer of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Toys For Bob has said that the upcoming platform game will not feature microtransactions. The study deemed it appropriate to set the record right after the Microsoft Store game list pointed to “in-app purchases.”
“We are seeing confusion about microtransactions in Crash Bandicoot 4 and we want to be clear: there are no microtransactions in Crash 4. As an added benefit, fully tubular skins are included in all digital versions of the game,” says the developer on Twitter.
We guess that’s it, then, but let’s not forget that Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled didn’t have microtransactions at launch either. Added over a month after the launch of the corridor. As such, it’s hard not to be at least a little cautious with Activision’s antics.
That being said, Crash Bandicoot 4 doesn’t have any online functionality as far as we know. It will have some kind of local multiplayer, according to the title’s PlayStation Store page, but we’re not sure how microtransactions could adapt to that. It seems more likely that Crash 4 will be beefed up with a range of DLC instead. Character skins, levels, that sort of thing.
