You’ve probably heard of the Joy-Con “drift” by now, right? This hardware issue causes the controller’s analog stick to record movement even when it’s not touched, and we’ve seen many Switch owners complain about the strange phenomenon that has happened to them in recent years.

Not everyone has dealt with the problem with their Joy-Con of course, but our guide detailing how to fix the problem at home has become one of our most popular, which is quite a telltale sign that something is wrong. .

Today, in a Japanese question and answer meeting, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa apologized for the “inconvenience” caused by the Joy-Con problems. He declined to comment further, citing the ongoing class action lawsuit currently underway in the United States (thanks to Robert Sephazon, a contributor to Nintendo Life, for the interpretation).

The case in question was first presented in July 2019; The lawsuit alleges that “the joysticks in the Joy-Con controllers are defective, leading users to experience drift problems.” A few months later, after its release, the Nintendo Switch Lite was also added to the lawsuit as user reports of drift with the new console also began to emerge. The last time we heard about the case was in May 2020, when the claim was submitted to arbitration.

Have you had problems with your Joy-Con? Last year, we conducted a survey to see which Nintendo consoles you’ve been having trouble with, and unfortunately Switch took the lead.
