The next Nintendo Direct “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/events/e3/e3-2019/nintendo-direct/ “> Nintendo Direct is likely to take place on Friday, August 28th.
That’s according to Venturebeat’s Jeff Grubb, a journalist who has built a reputation for accurately reporting upcoming events in the industry.
Speaking in the publication’s most recent video game Grubb added credit to recent claims there will be a Nintendo Direct later this month. According to the journalist’s sources, Nintendo “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/nintendo/ “> Nintendo will probably hold a live stream next Friday, he said.
The date coincides with what similar insiders said earlier this week.
“I have heard a few things and I think there is a strong possibility that there will be a Nintendo Direct next week, on Friday [the 28th]. That’s the date I heard, ”Grubb said Friday.
However, the journalist encouraged some caution about the actual content of each such live stream, pointing to the recent “Partner Direct” in July, which was highly anticipated by fans due to similar insider leaks, but ended up completely on third-party content.
“At the end of that show, they said, ‘We’ll have more partner showcases coming up soon,’ so everything I hear, in the back of my mind, there’s always that ringing like an echo.”
However, Grubb added: “I think there is a lot of science indicating that new week will be a general Direct, and that there will be a general Direct, it seems certain.”
There has been a lot of demand from fans this summer for information on Nintendo’s upcoming games, as disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic apparently leads to it being even more secretive than usual.
At the moment, Nintendo has announced just one first-party game for the rest of the year: Wii U “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/nintendo/wiiu/ “> Wii U-port Pikmin 3 Deluxe” href = “https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games/pikmin-3-deluxe/”>Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which was announced via press release earlier this month.
Whether or not the news of next week’s event is a ‘general’ Direct or not, Grubb said he would still expect a first-party-focused showcase to arrive “by the end” by mid-September.
“I heard that even before Nintendo announced that they were having a special meeting with investors in mid-September,” he said.
“I think it makes a lot of sense for them to get a Direct out of the way before that happens, so they don’t have to answer questions like ‘what games are coming up?'”
Since 2013, Nintendo has streamed regular Nintendo Direct presentations to inform consumers about their product plans. Complications around working remotely have contributed to the company deciding to push back its schedule in 2020.
Nintendo has not held Nintendo Direct since June this year and there has been no full Direct broadcast since September 2019, with the platform holder instead deciding to air smaller streams that are mostly focused on individual titles such as Animal Crossing and Smash Bros.
In June, the company’s president Shuntaro Furukawa “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/people/shuntaro-furukawa/ “> Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed his commitment to the Direct model, telling investors that he is that the live-streamed presentations are still an effective means of communication.
