Nier’s reincarnation trailer shows the combat of the mobile spin-off

The next mobile spin-off to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the original Nier, Nier Reincarnation has shown combat in a new video. It looks very different from Nier’s action style: Automata.

The trailer is below, but we also took a screenshot showing the match for further analysis.

It looks like combat could be turn-based, with large touch icons assigned to each character. Based on the screenshot below, it appears that the characters in your team of three will have two abilities assigned to them. The footage shows a member of the team of players landing punches with ease, so don’t expect any traditional action combat with dodge and block.

Subtitles are not provided

It also looks like the combat will be wave based which is an interesting twist. In the screenshot above, it also appears that two characters are great hitters, while the other is primarily a healer.

Nier Reincarnation is coming to Android and iOS, though a release date has not been announced, and it is unclear if it will hit the west.

Nor is it the only Nier game on the horizon; An improved version of the first game called Nier Replicant Ver. 1.22474487139 is also in the works for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. This will be the first time that the Japanese version of the game has been available in North America, as the previous American version of Nier featured many differences.
