Nick Cannon has decided to take time off after the backlash over the anti-Semitic comments he made.
Cannon, who hosts the Los Angeles-based radio show “Nick Cannon Mornings,” shared the news in a tweet on Thursday.
“Morning radio family. I have decided to take time away from my radio program so that I can commit to deeper and deeper reflection and education,” he wrote.

In the tweets that followed, Cannon explained that he would use this break as an opportunity to “establish an action plan toward real and impactful change and advocacy to bring people together.”

The father of two children also thanked those who came to help him “enlighten him” and added: “His contribution and friendship will help me as I further commit myself to deeper learning and to strengthening the bond between the black and Jewish cultures all the days moving on. “
Cannon’s announcement comes amid backlash from anti-Semitic comments he made during a June episode of his podcast and YouTube series “Cannon’s Class.”

As a result of his comments, ViacomCBS, owner of MTV, the network that broadcasts his “Wild ‘N Out” program, cut ties with the 39-year-old on Tuesday.
However, he remains the presenter of the popular Fox singing contest “The Masked Singer”.
