NFL will reward teams for developing minority coaches / GMs


NFL owners have approved a proposal that would reward minority coaches and front-office fee officers who become head coaches, general managers or team presidents for other clubs for development organizations.

Also, the owners of the league have unanimously approved a contingency plan to expand the playoff ID f area to 16 teams if meaningful games are canceled due to COVID-19.

Voting took place on Tuesday during a virtual meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and league officials.

Teams that lose a minority coach or executive to the position of head coach or primary football with another club will receive a third-round return for two consecutive years. If a team loses both the minority coach and the executive for the role of head coach and general manager / president, the club will receive a third round return for three consecutive years.

The resolution must be approved by the NFL Players Association.
