NFL Week 1 Grade: Seahawks get ‘A’ for letting Russell Wilson cook, Stilters get ‘A’ for Monday’s win

Fans of Seahawks tried to persuade Seattle’s coaching staff for “Let’s Rush Cook” and based on Sunday’s opener in Atlanta, it looks like the team has decided to let Russell Wilson go to the kitchen.

The “Let’s Rush Cook” mantra began Because Wilson and the Seattle fanbase The quarterback wanted to see more throws this year, and that’s what happened against the Falcons during the Seahawks’ 38-25 win.

Wilson had one of the most impressive games of his career, 31 of 35 for 322 yards and four touchdowns. With Wilson’s hand warming up, the Seahawks did something they almost never did, basically leaving only when they finished the game with 20 carry, which is significant because the Seahawks Never Leave on the run. The win against Atlanta marked the fourth time in Wilson’s career that the Seahawks had played a game 20 or fewer times off the ball where he had thrown it 35 times or more.

Although the Seahawks did not run the ball, they used their running backs, calling for plenty of screen plays. In fact, running behind Chris Carson actually included 19-yards at the end of the first quarter from Wilson’s four touchdown passes.

Overall, Carson caught 6 passes for 45 yards in which he also faced 21 rushing yards.

The first NFL Sunday of the 2020 season is in the books and there is a lot to go on. John Breach and Ryan Wilson, to break it all down, will join host Will Brinson on the Pix Six podcast; Listen to the player below and don’t forget to subscribe to the daily NFL goodness.

Speaking of Wilson, the surprising thing about his performance is that if you don’t count his throws to DK Metcalfe, he really has a perfect game. Yet he was only 4 of 8 targeting Metcalfe, 27 of 27 for 227 yards and three touchdowns targeting everyone else. Of course, that doesn’t mean the Metcalf-Wilson connection wasn’t working. The Seahawks second-year receiver actually caught a 38-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that gave Seattle a 21-12 lead.

For some time now, the Seahawks have been running their offense like a power-running team, with a game manager for the quarterbacks, but the reality of the situation is that they have the best quarterbacks in the NFL. If they let him spend more time in the kitchen this season so he can continue cooking, the Seahawks will quickly become a favorite to win at NFC West.
