The Philadelphia Eagles seem open to move three-time Pro Bowl right-back Brandon Brooks. NFL insider Albert Breyer says Brooks’ name has surfaced in the trade debate over the seasons.
Breyer specifically mentioned Brooks among the players on the “more cap-striped teams” who were looking to “get back the value of some high-end, high-paying players.”
One of the NFL’s best defenders before the injury, a torn Achilles lost his 2020 season. But he was healthy enough to practice before the end of the year, and the -1-year-old is under contract for four years for 2 2. There have been trade discussions here.
The news comes as a surprise. No expectations before Brooks No. Come back Philly this year.
Brooks cutting was never on the table. For starters, he became an animal when he was healthy. Not to mention releasing him would actually cost the Eagles 1.1 million in Cape Space.
Trading Brooks, however, Will Clear a little space. But just about $ 2.3 million, which is less than the premium price, is not enough to justify moving it.
It is worth noting that Trading Brooks Then June 1, 2021 will clear 10 10.5 million this year, with 1 1.41 million in cash. That scenario would include an additional 3 8.3 million in 2022 dead money.
The impetus for Brooks’ trade could emerge as the Eagles are reluctant to reconstitute their existing deal. According to Over the Cap, Philly could clear about ડો 7.1 million by renewing his contract, but doing so could extend his financial commitment to him beyond 2021. Since January 2019 I have experienced three major injuries (two Achilles tears, one separate shoulder).
Again, the Eagles don’t just have to sell Brooks at any price. This is not like the Zach Ertz situation. It is possible that Hoy Roseman is checking the market on Brooks to see if he can get a better price than expected. Or maybe there have been other teams that have expressed as much interest in Brooks as the Eagles bought him.
The speculation here is that Brooks will still be Philly’s starting rights guard in 2021. But, this result may be less probable than previously considered.
