NFL rumors: Chris Long weighs in on disgruntled Carson Wentz Rumblings

The crumbling Carson Wentz situation in Philadelphia received another shock on Sunday morning when reports surfaced that Wentz “wants to move on” if Jalen Hurtz stays early quarterback.

Wentz, who is set to pay more than 100 million over the next four years, easily put the Packers in the worst season of his career before being bench for hurts in the third quarter of a 13th-week loss.

It is unclear whether he will resume for the Eagles, given the fact that Wentz stood four months ago.

But Ventz’s former ally says the blame for the apparently deteriorating situation must start with Ventz.

Chris Long, who won the Super Bowl with the Eagles when he saw the vantage backup Nick Falls lead the Birds to the title, weighed in on the reports on Sunday morning.

He kind of hedged his taxes, but it’s also hard to disagree with anything Lange said here. There have been allegations of Hurt’s drafting to the organization, from Hurt’s draft to the creation of intermediate and old-fashioned corps around Wentz this season.

But the blame falls squarely on Vantage’s “intentionally bad game”, as Lang has said.

Wentz would argue after becoming a top 10 or top 12 option last year, if he says, is the 18th best quarterback in the league this year. The argument would be: ‘Hey, can I get some help here?’

Wentz has been awesome this year, except for the league type awesome that can bench you up for good.

Wentz ranks 35th out of qualifying quarterbacks:

  • 27th Exposure per attempt
  • 34 m In disruption per attempt
  • 34 m In the yard per attempt
  • 35 m In absolute percentage

When you’re that bad, you’ll be bench. Duration.

Now, it’s also long overdue that the former starter who benches will likely ask for another shot when he’s a starter. It is not surprising that Wentz would like to move to another location and return to QB1 position.

Former Eagles wide receiver and Super Bowl LII champion Tore Smith agreed:

Indeed, the way this is unfolding is not very surprising.

The most surprising is how quickly it happened.
