New Reliance restaurants can now offer alcoholic beverages as two-day drinks

The announcement came Friday from New Mayor Reliance Mayor Latoya Cantrell, who ordered drinks to be given take-out, curbside and drive-through until 11 p.m.

However, while the rest of Louisiana has made it easy to reopen Phase 3, Cantrell has kept the Reliance Passions in Phase 2, despite some loose restrictions. Bars may reopen under Phase 3, but remain closed under Phase 2.

The new Le Reliance Restaurant rentals have already given permission to drink to people who dine in restaurants.

The move follows previous ooze restrictions by the mayor, including the resumption of playgrounds and the resumption of high school athletics in October.

A statement from the mayor’s office said, “The city will keep an eye on the number of cases as schools move toward individual notification to prepare for the next steps in safe, phased reopening of New Orleans.”

More than 12,000 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Le Reliance Parish alone, with a total of 587 confirmed deaths. As of Wednesday, there are 1,224 potential cases of the virus, according to data from the Louisiana Department of Health.
