A new PS5 report has PlayStation fans very worried about the allegedly underpowered console. According to a new report, the PS5 will not only be more expensive than the Xbox Series X, but the lack of power compared to the Xbox console is reported to be developing headaches. More specifically, the console apparently has issues with running games at 4K.
The report comes way insider and leaker of the sector Dusk Golem, who claims to have heard that Microsoft has not only the more powerful console with the Xbox Series X, but the cheaper console. The insider does not tell any specifications about the price of either the next-gen machine, nor do they indicate how much cheaper the Xbox Series X will be, but they warn PlayStation fans should prepare themselves for this news.
“People need to be prepared for the very real possibility that the PS5 will end up being the more expensive console between the two,” the leaker said on Twitter. “I try not to say much here because I was asked not to just prepare yourself.
The leaker continued by, noting that PS5 wrestles with 4K games, which can result in a lot of “fake” 4K on the console:
“This puts the Xbox Series X in a position where it will be the cheaper and more powerful console I used Inhabitant evil 8 as an example, but I have heard from other developers that PS5 wrestles with 4k games in particular, that you will see a lot of fake 4k. That does not matter to some, but you also get ready for it. Xbox Series X does not have the same problem. “
Unfortunately, this is where the report ends. That said, Dusk Golem later explained this is just what they heard anecdotally while talking to developers. In other words, take it all with a grain of salt. Nothing here is official information, and even if it is correct, it is also subject to change. Furthermore, for all we know, it is obsolete.
At the time of publication, Sony has no comment on this latest report on its console, and it is unlikely that it will. Rarely has the PlayStation maker commented on rumors and reports of this variety.
The PlayStation 5 is scheduled to be released sometime this holiday season. There is currently no word of a price point.
