New PS5 DualSense Controller Leak appears one huge improvement over PS4 Controller

A new leak of PS5 DualSense controller has revealed one huge improvement of the PS4 controller. Similar to the Xbox Series X controller, the PS5 DualSense controller begins to appear in the wild months prior to release. And as a result, we’re learning new details about the next-gen PlayStation controller. We now know that the battery capacity of the controller is – presumably – 1560mA, which is a significant improvement over the PS4 DualShock 4, which grabbed an 800mA at launch, although Sony finally improved this later in the generation to a 1000mA battery.

So what does this mean? Well according to the leaker – Galaxy666, who also shared images of the controller – the battery currently lasts about three to four hours longer than the battery of a new PS4 controller.

The leaker also notes that the buttons are “more comfortable” to press than the PS4 controller buttons, which have been slightly criticized here and there. Meanwhile, the touchpad is apparently more responsive and clicker.

All this also applies to the triggers. The leaker notes that L1 and R1 do not click, but press as triggers. Meanwhile, the L2 and R2 triggers carry more weight and are harder to push than the PS4 controller triggers, even without the voltage points activated.

“Much nicer and more comfortable than the DualShock 4,” said the leaker who talks about the controllers’ triggers. “You will not be disappointed. The feedback is magical. The triggers within mechanical structures seem very complex.

Of course, like any leak, take this with a grain of salt. While the leaker apparently provides evidence that they interacted with the controller, it is important to remember nothing here is official information and it is all subject to change.

The PlayStation 5 is set to release worldwide this holiday season. At the time of publication, there has been no word of an exact release date as a price point.
