New Orleans Saints don’t expect MNF to relocate due to hurricane

Mittari, La. – The New Orleans Saints are not planning to relocate to Hurricane Delta until Wednesday night, a source told ESPN.

With the possibility of more hurricanes in the west in Louisiana on Friday night, the Saints do not expect the need to move this week for practice or for Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers at the Superdome.

Earlier Wednesday, sources confirmed that the Saints and the NFL have contingency plans to relocate to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis if needed. The Colts play the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday.

The Saints’ contingency plans were first reported by Athletic.

NFL Usually have weather-related contingency plans for sports – as did for the recent California wildfires, for example.

“We will monitor the development of the region and keep in touch with the clubs,” said league spokesman Brian McCarthy. “We always have contingency plans for all the games.”

The Saints are scheduled to hold their first week of practice on Thursday.
