New Nintendo Switch FCC Announcements Apparently Fixing New Model with SoC and RAM Changes Next to CPU Board Change

New announcements from Nintendo Switch FCC suggest that Nintendo is planning a Switch revision with changes in the platform’s SoC and RAM.

Earlier this week, we reported on a new Switch model that is said to be released in early 2021. After all, this ‘new’ upgraded model can support 4K resolution and more computing power. Several major media outlets have reported on this rumored new Switch ‘Pro’ model, including Bloomberg and The Verge.

New Nintendo Switch model released early 2021 – rumored

Bloomberg wrote, “The specifications of the new machine have yet to be finalized, although the Kyoto company has considered adopting more computing power and 4K high-definition graphics, people informed about the strategy told Bloomberg News, asked not to identify, to” t was private Nintendo will face stiff competition this fall for gamers like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are set to arrive on time for the shopping season. “

Last month we already reported on a new job ad suggesting that the ‘new’ Switch model will potentially support NVIDIA’s DLSS 2.0 to improve resolutions.

In line with these rumors, submissions to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for new hardware components in the Switch have now been discovered, giving more credibility to these claims.

The new files contain some interesting details about Nintendo’s rumored Switch change, including changes to the Platform System-on-a-Chip (SoC) and Memory of the platform. By changing these two components, it is said that Nintendo will also change the CPU management in the Switch. Part of Nintendo’s official letter to the FCC regarding the change is included:

“This is to request a Class II permissive change for FCC ID: BKEHAT002, originally issued on 04/18/2017 and all its permitted changes. We have modified the following points from the original model.

  • Change of SoC
  • Change of memory
  • CPU Board is changed due to the above two components

Apart from the above mentioned changes, it appears that we are only looking at an internal change and the design of the Switch will not be changed. Nintendo writes, “Because there is no change in the shape of the housing and the layout of components related to RF characteristics including the antenna between the original model and the new model, the SAR test is based on the new model not required and will be discarded. “

The submission includes both internal and external photos of the Nintendo Switch, with the internal showing the planned changes. We have included these photos below.

Interesting to note is that these new applications were submitted on August 23rd. Nintendo has just confirmed the new Nintendo Switch model. We will update as soon as more info on this matter arrives.
