I’m down with Lady Rugal
SNK has been pushing its crossover and collaborative sentiment hard enough in recent years to take advantage of its fighting game characters for potential rivals or even other genres entirely, and now there’s another one aimed at a slightly different audience.
Marvelous Games recently announced and launched a special King of Fighters crossover event on their fan-friendly mobile / PC title Shinobi Master Senran Kagura: New Link, dubbed Beach of Fighters.
This limited-time collaboration brings characters like Athena, Leona, Kula Diamond and a female version of Rugal to the mix of character cast.
Each of the three main ladies mentioned above seems to have two different versions of cards to collect in New Link with their standard outfit and bikinis because otherwise it wouldn’t be a Senran Kagura game.
If you’re wondering where Mai Shiranui is in all of this, as she seems to fit the game perfectly, the SNK heroine previously made her way in New Link earlier, as did some dead or alive characters like Ayane.
It’s getting to the point where it’s hard to list all of the recent SNK crossovers using their Geese fighting game characters joining Tekken 7 with Terry Bogard being invited to Fighting EX Layer and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Iori had her chance to shine in Million Arthur: Arcana Blood, Mai, and Kula joined Dead or Alive 6. On the other hand, we’ve also seen in recent months that WWE fighters are sucked into The King of Fighters All Star. and For Honor’s Warden joins Samurai Shodown, plus another on the way to Honor of Kings.
Senran Kagura also saw her first major playable fighting game performance as well when Yumi joined the cast of BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle last year.
The Beach of Fighters event is out now and runs through August 1, though you may need to know some Japanese to play New Link properly.
