BOSTON (CBS) – Massachusetts New Hampshire and Maine are slipping off the list of states relieving their troubles from travel limits. Both will not be considered a “covid lower-risk” state due to the increase in coronavirus cases in the region, effective Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The move, which comes within a week of the Thanksgiving holiday, means only Vermont and Hawaii will be left on the exemption list. Otherwise, those visiting or returning to Massachusetts must fill out a travel form and quarantine for 14 days after arriving in the two states, or provide a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of their arrival.
Last week Maine re-imposed travel bans for Massachusetts residents. New Hampshire has no restrictions for other states in New England.
Failure to comply with travel restrictions in Massachusetts can result in a fine of up to $ 500.
States qualify as low risk when their daily cases per 100,000 are below 10 and a positive test rate below 5%, both measured as a 7-day rolling average.
