New England Patriots rookies didn’t report Tuesday, first possible day to arrive (report)

With the NFL still working on the details of training camp with the union, the Patriots are taking their time with the rookies.

Tuesday was the first day New England freshmen could show up on the premises for training camp, but Mike Giardi of the NFL Network reports that Bill Belichick was slow to bring in his rookies.

The league and union finally reached an agreement on coronavirus testing on Monday night, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the two sides agreed to conduct daily tests.

“The NFL and NFLPA agreed to conduct daily tests of COVID-19 during the first 2 weeks of camp, after which they will analyze positivity rates,” Pelissero tweeted. “If the rate drops below 5% for players and Level 1 / Level 2 people, they will carry over every two days. Important agreement as talks on other issues continue. “

So far, 95 league players have already tested positive for coronavirus, according to the union.

Veterans are still slated to report next Tuesday, but the entire operation is smooth as the league offered to turn down its entire preseason on Monday night.

As of last week, Foxbrough may have been the safest place in the league for rookies to arrive: the Patriots market had the lowest concentration of positive COVID-19 tests in the entire NFL. The union released a list of cases per 100,000, and New England had by far the best number at (3.27).
