New crime ‘breath of fresh air’ for Fenwick

Just be careful if you ever find yourself in a card game with South Carolina Gamecocks running back Deshaun Fenwick.

Looks like the red skirt running back has a good poker face.

On Thursday, as Fenwick answered questions MarShawn Lloyd, rumors of an injury to the newborn who were running back had already gone online. Fenwick barely flew when asked how Lloyd’s looked through two days of practice for press time.

‘Oh, my dear, you should see him, I wish you could,’ said Fenwick, ‘but he looks really extraordinary. He really looks like, how can I say this? Freshman All-SEC. ”

It is unclear whether Fenwick knew the extent of Lloyd’s injury, which was followed up during practice on Wednesday. But Fenwick was training that day – Mike Bobo said he was the best performance of the offense this morning.

Of course, South Carolina coach Sil Muschamp announced in a press release on Thursday that Lloyd tore his left ACL. The news was officially broken after players finished their Zoom availability with reporters.

MarShawn Lloyd is extremely talented, ”said Fenwick. ‘I love that I have such a man in my room. I love working for him every day. ”

Lloyd, a highly regarded boy, enrolled in South Carolina in January and went through the handful of spring practices before campus closed. His injury makes TheGamecocks’ starting running race a four-man league.

Fenwick en Kevin Harris, the only returning players in that position, jockey with freshman Rashad Amos and junior college All-American Zaquandre White, who began his college career at Florida State.

“What we have in this room, we’re like flooding with talent in this room,” Fenwick said. ‘I assume we have a lot of production in the run game, for the offensive in general.

‘I really like our room. We are really talented. ”

Fenwick, who rushed 22 times for 111 yards last season, was pretty upset about what’s up for grabs for South Carolina this season.

“The running game makes me a lot excited,” he said. ‘I can’ t tell you what we’ll do, but it’s exciting. Honestly, if you watch it on film, you’ll just watch it. It’s a whole new breath, a whole new breath of fresh air. ”

Apparently there is some action behind those words. Offensive coordinator of the first year Mike Bobo said Fenwick was the top performer of the offense on Wednesday in practice.

“I feel like I have something to prove this year,” Fenwick said when asked about playing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sure, there are risks, though perhaps not so much for people like Fenwick, that he acknowledged. And he’s really aware of what’s going on with the virus.

“It’s time for me to do things for myself and for others, but especially for myself,” Fenwick said. “I do this for myself because I want it so badly.”

White was also among the subjects of Fenwick. As usual, Fenwick had some interesting things to say.

“Zaquandre has added so far – I’m sure you guys have seen his highlights, very, very talented,” Fenwick said. “He also brings a unique personality to the room. I’ve only been around him for a few days. I can already tell what type he is and I think he will be moving in that direction pretty soon.”

South Carolina added White to its roster just before the start of practice for press season.

“He’s really been a lot,” Fenwick said. “A lot, I would not say ups and downs, but he knows how to carry himself and knows what he wants. You can just tell that he is determined to get it.”
