Clark County recorded 755 new cases of COVID-19 and there were no additional deaths during the previous day, according to data released Monday.
The Southern Nevada Health District reported the new figures on its coronavirus website, bringing the total number of cases for the county to 23,803, as the number of deaths remained at 483. The health district estimates that 15,864 of the patients who contracted the disease have recovered.
New cases were above the daily average of 658 in the previous week.
The health district reported no hospitalizations the previous day, after a week that saw a daily average of nearly 29 new admissions for the disease caused by the new coronavirus.
The district has previously had some issues with data delays on weekends, but it wasn’t immediately clear if there were any issues regarding hospitalization reports this weekend.
The Nevada Hospital Association reported that the image in southern Nevada hospitals changed little from Friday’s report, with 78 percent of hospital beds and 88 percent of intensive care unit beds busy.
Meanwhile, the state of Nevada recorded 832 new cases of COVID-19 and there were no additional deaths during the previous day.
Figures published on the Department of Health and Human Services’ nvhealthresponse.nv.gov website brought Nevada’s total cases to 28,515, while the number of deaths remained unchanged at 593. (District and county reports Local health services place the state’s total cases somewhat higher, at 28,580 as of Monday night. Such discrepancies are common due to different reporting cycles between local agencies and the state.)
New cases were above the daily average of just over 752 in the previous week.
The state’s infection or positivity rate, considered a better barometer of the outbreak trend in the state than the daily numbers of cases and deaths, continued to go higher, at 8.09 percent.
The figure, confirmed cases divided by the number of people tested, declined steadily for more than two months before reaching 5.20 percent on June 17. It has risen every day but one since then and recorded its fifth consecutive daily gain in Monday’s report.
