It has topped the first ranking of original movies released by Netflix, with 99 million viewers reported by the company in its first four weeks on the streaming service.
Netflix, which reports its second-quarter earnings on Thursday, has 183 million global subscribers. Its considerable subscriber earnings in recent quarters tip the list (see below) towards recently released movies. The company has also recently adjusted its metric for what counts as a view, and now has any subscriber who watches any show for at least two minutes as an official viewer.
Bird box It is number 2 on the list, which Bloomberg first reported, with 89 million viewers. Titles No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, are directed by Peter Berg Confidential Spenser, starring Mark Wahlberg and Michael Bay’s 6 underground, whose cast was led by Ryan Reynolds.
Netflix only publishes selected audience data, emphasizing titles that work well. Nielsen offers its own reports on Netflix viewing, but only in the U.S. The company has significantly increased its original movie efforts in recent years, exploring a variety of verticals, including animation. Its global reach and local production operations have helped it diversify its offerings and continue to operate even during COVID-19 closings.
