Avatar: The Last Airbender: Netflix ends comments after the makers’ sudden shutdown
Adjust, Avatar: The Last AirbenderOriginal creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko announced that they will no longer be officially involved in Netlfix’s much-anticipated adaptation of the popular animated series’ live-action series. Therefore, the ATLA fandom is saddened and angry about the loss, leaving most fans doubtful and worried that Netflix might not deliver the adjustment they had hoped for.
After the controversial dismissal of the makers, the streaming giant has finally broken its silence on the issue by assuring ATLA fans that they are still confident that the project’s current creative team can deliver great results that would do justice to the animated series.
“We have full respect and admiration for Michael and Bryan and the story they have created in the Avatar animated series,” said a Netflix spokesman in a statement (via Variety). “Although they have chosen to leave the live-action project, we are confident in the creative team and their adaptation.”
According to both DiMartino and Konietzko’s statements yesterday, they finally decided to leave the project due to creative differences, as Netflix had not kept its promise to give it creative control over the live-action series. Since all three seasons of the animated series made their Netflix debut in May last year, it instantly became one of the streamer’s most popular content.
